Independent Report
Kasur/Lahore – 29 October 2025
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan has successfully dismantled a sophisticated drug trafficking network leveraging drones to smuggle narcotics across borders. Acting on credible intelligence, ANF teams intercepted a vehicle near Bhedian Kalan Road, Kasur, apprehending two individuals. A meticulous search recovered 9 kilograms of heroin, a quadcopter drone, and specialized equipment, all expertly concealed within the vehicle and suspects’ personal belongings.
Subsequent investigations led to the identification of an illegal drone assembly and manufacturing unit, operating under the name “Robotics” in Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. Authorities seized multiple advanced drone systems, including hexacopters, quadcopters, fixed-wing hybrid VTOLs, and remote controllers. A relative of the company owner, serving as Head of Finance, was also arrested on-site. Investigators confirmed that these drones were being assembled and maintained for use by a drug trafficking organization (DTO) to facilitate cross-border smuggling.
The operation underscores a troubling trend: the increasing use of technology in narcotics trafficking, with drones employed to bypass border surveillance and distribute highly addictive drugs such as heroin, particularly targeting youth.
Through strategic intelligence and advanced counter-narcotics operations, the ANF is actively preventing harmful substances from reaching the public and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to a drug-free and secure nation.
