Islamabad, Jan 4, 2026:
President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm felicitations to Acting President Min Aung Hlaing and the people of Myanmar on the 78th anniversary of the country’s Independence Day.
In his message, the President highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Myanmar, rooted in mutual respect, cultural links, and goodwill since Myanmar’s early years of independence. He noted that bilateral cooperation has expanded over time in areas including trade, defence, health, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen cooperation through practical initiatives and closer institutional engagement, serving the shared interests of both nations. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working with Myanmar for regional peace, stability, and development, including collaboration at the United Nations and other international forums.
The President also underscored Myanmar’s important role within ASEAN, stating that Pakistan, as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner, remains keen to enhance engagement with ASEAN member states. He concluded by conveying best wishes for peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of Myanmar.
