QUETTA/PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army has launched timely rescue and relief operations in several areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid severe snowfall and harsh weather conditions, officials said.
Control centres have been established in Hosri, Ziarat, Bolan, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Khojak Top, Lak Pass, Dukki, Kolpur and Muslim Bagh to coordinate relief efforts. Army troops and rescue teams are evacuating stranded locals and tourists, while providing food, medical assistance and other basic necessities.
In Kurram district, security forces are also conducting large-scale rescue operations following heavy rains and unprecedented snowfall. Emergency actions were initiated to assist the local population and restore ground connectivity.
Using heavy machinery and manpower, affected roads were cleared and reopened, enabling the supply of essential goods and restoring access to markets and healthcare facilities.
Despite extreme weather and difficult terrain, army officers and soldiers are personally supervising relief activities. Local residents have appreciated the armed forces’ swift response, as key routes were reopened and stranded travellers safely relocated.
