Mehar:
Relatives of a 13-year-old boy who was allegedly raped and murdered in Mehar town have accused local police of failing to investigate the case, demanding intervention from senior judicial and law-enforcement authorities.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Niaz Ali Buriro, chairman of the Mehar Citizens’ Alliance, accompanied by the victim’s father and uncle, said the boy, identified as Dilshir Buriro, was assaulted and killed within the jurisdiction of Mehar B Section police station. Medical reports, they said, had confirmed sexual assault and homicide.
The family alleged that despite a week passing since the incident, police had not made meaningful progress. They said one suspect was handed over to police and an FIR was registered, but claimed the station house officer had neither conducted a DNA test nor pursued the investigation.
The speakers accused the SHO of attempting to derail the case and harassing unrelated individuals. They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Sindh, IG Sindh, and DIG Hyderabad to order an impartial inquiry.
The alliance announced a protest on the Indus Highway on Monday, vowing to continue demonstrations until arrests are made.
