Balochistan launches Water and Sanitation Plan 2025-2035 with UNICEF support

The Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE), Local Government (LGRD), Climate Change Department, and UNICEF jointly launched the Balochistan CR Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector Plan 2025-2035 at an inaugural ceremony held in Quetta.

Provincial Minister for PHE, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, while addressing the ceremony, said that providing clean drinking water, improved sanitation, and environmental protection are the top priorities of the Balochistan government. He highlighted that lack of access to water remains the biggest challenge for women and children in remote areas of the province.

He emphasized that the Water and Sanitation Plan will ensure equal facilities for vulnerable and marginalized communities, with the active inclusion of local communities and development partners in its implementation.

The minister further added that the government is committed to improving the future of citizens, especially women and children, through sustainable initiatives. He noted that the cooperation of development partners and institutions would guarantee the success of the plan.

At the end of his speech, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran expressed gratitude to UNICEF for its partnership in this vital initiative for Balochistan.
