Islamabad, February 13, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended congratulations to Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Tarique Rahman on securing a landslide victory in the national elections.
In his message, the President congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of polls across 299 seats with participation from over 127 million registered voters. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s sovereignty and democratic aspirations.
President Zardari expressed hope that the new government would enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, defence collaboration, cultural exchanges and regional forums. He also noted that renewed political momentum in Dhaka presents an opportunity to strengthen South Asian cooperation and promote balanced, mutually respectful engagement across the region.
