Gwadar Hosts Crucial Meeting on Polio Eradication Efforts Gawadar.

A high-level meeting was held in Gwadar on January 3, 2025, to discuss the progress and challenges faced during the ongoing polio eradication campaign. The meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Abdul Shakoor, brought together key stakeholders, including District Health Officer Dr. Abdul Latif Dashti, WHO representative Dr. Zafar Iqbal, and other relevant officials.

The meeting focused on addressing the obstacles faced during the campaign, particularly the lack of social mobilization and awareness, which resulted in an increase in the number of refusing parents and inaccessible children. To overcome these challenges, the participants resolved to launch extensive social mobilization and awareness campaigns before the next polio drive to ensure maximum vaccination coverage.

Key statistics shared during the meeting revealed that 12 parents refused to vaccinate their children, while 144 children remained inaccessible. The District Health Officer was directed to take immediate action to cover these refusing parents and inaccessible children.

The meeting also discussed security arrangements during the campaign, emphasizing the need for effective coordination to ensure the success of the polio eradication efforts.
