Balochistan CM Vows to Protect Endangered Wildlife, Urges Immediate Action
Quetta, Jan. 13, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Safaraz Bugti expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of illegal hunting, which has put some rare species on the brink of extinction. He emphasized the need for immediate and effective measures to protect the province’s endangered wildlife.
Chairing a meeting to review the department of forests’ efforts to conserve and protect wildlife, the Chief Minister was briefed on the measures taken to prevent illegal hunting and protect rare species. He directed the authorities to enhance community monitoring and take stringent actions against those involved in illegal hunting.
The Chief Minister stressed that some areas have witnessed ruthless hunting of rare wildlife, which is highly disturbing. He urged the authorities to take prompt action to prevent the extinction of these species, citing the importance of conservation efforts ¹.
The meeting was part of the government’s efforts to protect Balochistan’s biodiversity, which is facing numerous threats, including habitat destruction, overhunting, and climate change ².
