Mamata Program Ensures Better Maternal and Child Health in Sanghar

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A meeting of the District Coordination Committee for the Mamata program was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, Dr. Imran-ul-Hassan Khawaja. The meeting reviewed the progress of the ongoing Mamata program initiated by the Sindh government, which aims to improve the health of newborns and mothers.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran highlighted that the Mamata program is designed to positively impact maternal and child health. District Coordinator for the Mamata program, Kalsoom Joyo, informed the attendees that so far, 51,484 pregnant women have been registered under the initiative. Additionally, 92 PPHI centers, three Taluka hospitals, and the Civil Hospital Sanghar have been integrated into the program.

The coordinator further shared that mothers breastfeeding children up to 24 months are also included in the program. Under the Mamata initiative, a total of Rs. 189.35 million has been allocated for pregnant women in Sanghar. Out of this, Rs. 155.12 million has already been disbursed to registered women through Bank Alfalah’s franchise device system.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran emphasized that this program will significantly benefit women in rural areas. He urged all relevant departments to cooperate with the Sindh Social Protection Authority Sanghar to ensure the effective implementation of the program and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
