Couple Faces Death Threats After Love Marriage, Appeals for Protection

Young woman from Sakrand names family members in complaint, seeks justice

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand), May 9, 2025 — A young woman, Manzooran Khaskheli, from Sakrand, has appealed to the authorities for protection after reportedly marrying Danish Kashmiri, a youth from Tando Adam, in a love marriage. She claims that her own family has since been threatening the couple with death.

Speaking to the media at the Tando Adam Press Club, Manzooran stated that she married Danish of her own free will and happiness. However, following the marriage, she alleged that her family, particularly her brothers Mir Muhammad and Ghulam Mustafa Mallah, have grown hostile and are now issuing serious death threats to her and her husband.

Visibly distressed, the woman appealed to the police and local administration for immediate protection and justice, citing grave danger to their lives.

The couple’s plea highlights ongoing concerns around personal freedom and safety in the context of love marriages in rural Sindh, where such unions are still often met with social resistance and threats of violence.

Authorities have yet to issue a formal response to the couple’s appeal.
