Balochistan’s People’s Ownership Rights Over Coast and Resources Should Be Recognized: Jamaat-e-Islami Sind.
SPECIAL REPORT
Karachi, July 27, Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh leader Kashif Saeed Sheikh announced support for the “Rights of Balochistan” march, led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, from Quetta to Islamabad. He emphasized that this demonstration is the collective voice of the people of Balochistan, who are demanding basic rights like clean water, health facilities, education, employment, and peace. Sheikh stated that the people of Balochistan should have ownership over their coastal areas and natural resources.
In a statement, he said that despite being geographically the largest province of Pakistan, Balochistan has long suffered from hardships, including deprivation, economic instability, and insecurity. He said that despite the region’s abundant natural resources, the residents are struggling for basic necessities and financial security. He noted the similarities between the issues of Sindh and Balochistan, attributing them to a lack of accountable, elected officials. The provincial leader criticized the Punjab police for stopping the march and detaining participants. He said that the government’s dictatorial attitude, instead of negotiations, is increasing problems for the country.
