Quetta, October 13:
The Balochistan High Court has taken strong notice of the acute water shortage in Hazara Town, directing the authorities of WASA, PHE, and QESCO to take immediate and practical measures to resolve the crisis.

During the hearing, the court expressed deep concern over the suffering of residents who have been deprived of clean drinking water for months. The judges remarked that the failure of relevant departments to address such a basic necessity amounted to gross negligence.

The court instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted water supply and take strict action against illegal water tanker operations that have turned the crisis into a commercial exploitation. The Chief Engineer of PHE assured the court that steps were underway to restore pipelines and improve pumping stations.

The bench also ordered the release of necessary development funds for water projects and sought a detailed progress report by November 6. The decision has been widely welcomed by citizens, who hope the intervention will bring long-awaited relief to the drought-stricken area.

Experts say the court’s action highlights a growing judicial focus on public service delivery and governance accountability in Balochistan
