QUETTA, Oct 25: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has said that professionals associated with engineering and construction play a vital role in the nation’s development through their tireless contributions. “The engineering sector holds a special place in national progress, and by harnessing the hidden potential of our engineers and constructors, we can ensure a brighter future for Pakistan,” he stated.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a three-day conference and exhibition organized by the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP), Quetta Chapter. The event was attended by IAP Chairman Naseer Hijazi, Deputy Chairman Saif Dotani, DHA Chief Engineer Ahmed Aziz, Fawad Sohail Abbasi, Chairman of the Engineering Department at BUITEMS Naveed Marwat, and a large number of engineers and builders from across the country.

Governor Mandokhail highlighted the prominent role of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Pakistan’s urban development, saying, “DHA is known for its high construction standards and modern township planning, which add beauty and elegance to our cities. The completion of DHA Quetta will significantly boost infrastructure development and positively impact the local economy.”

Emphasizing innovation, he said, “It is evident that nations investing in science and engineering, particularly in solar energy production, are the ones securing a brighter future. I urge our engineers to guide us on how to shift from conventional electricity systems to solar energy.”

The Governor also called for research and practical strategies to adopt new construction technologies. “Through 3D printing, we can build modern structures while reducing dependency on traditional materials like cement, steel, bricks, and gravel. Engineers must also share insights on the evolving concept of building codes under modern scientific standards,” he said.

Governor Mandokhail urged senior engineers and builders to create scholarship or training programs for underprivileged university students in Balochistan and assist the provincial government in introducing modern skill development, artificial intelligence, and information technology programs.

Earlier, the Governor formally inaugurated the three-day exhibition and visited various stalls, appreciating the innovative projects and participation of professionals from across Pakistan.
