Karachi, 17 November 2025 — Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced a landmark order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft powered by GE9X engines, valued at US$ 38 billion at list prices. The announcement was made on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, reinforcing the airline’s status as Boeing’s largest global customer for the 777 family.
With this major purchase, Emirates’ total Boeing orderbook rises to 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. The airline’s commitment to GE Aerospace also expands, taking its total GE9X engine orders to 540 units, including 130 new engines confirmed today.
This new agreement provides strong backing for Boeing’s feasibility study into the 777-10, a larger variant of the 777X family. Emirates has secured options to convert its latest 777-9 orders into either the 777-10 or the smaller 777-8, offering operational flexibility and further supporting Boeing’s development programme.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said the order reflects the airline’s long-term strategy and trust in US aerospace manufacturing:
> “Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and we are expanding our commitment with this US$ 38 billion order. This demonstrates our confidence in Boeing and GE, and our dedication to supporting the US aerospace ecosystem. Each aircraft has been carefully integrated into our expansion plan aligned with Dubai’s long-term growth vision.”
He added that Emirates welcomes Boeing’s exploration of the 777-10, noting the industry’s need for larger, more efficient aircraft amid rising global air traffic and capacity constraints at major airports.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praised the enduring partnership:
> “We are deeply honoured that Emirates has once again selected the Boeing 777X to power its future. Emirates has grown over 40 years into one of the world’s leading carriers, and we look forward to supporting its fleet ambitions for decades to come.”
Russell Stokes, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, reaffirmed GE’s commitment:
> “This additional GE9X order reflects Emirates’ confidence in our technology and our team. We are proud to advance the future of flight alongside Emirates through our most efficient engine family.”
Over its four-decade history, Emirates has operated every Boeing 777 model and today flies the world’s largest active 777 fleet, powered by GE90 engines. Its 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs and 11 Boeing 777 freighters connect Dubai to more than 140 destinations across six continents.
Following today’s order, Boeing aircraft deliveries to Emirates will extend through 2038, ensuring long-term production activity and supporting thousands of skilled aerospace jobs across multiple US states, including Washington, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, Alabama, and Indiana.
The record-breaking purchase underscores Emirates’ future-focused fleet strategy and marks one of the most significant commercial announcements of Dubai Airshow 2025.
