Sibi (Report: Special Correspondent) – The four-day Sibi Divisional Sports Festival, organized by the Department of Sports, Government of Balochistan, in collaboration with the Sibi district administration, commenced with a colorful opening ceremony. The festival features competitions in football, shooting ball, cricket, badminton, kabaddi, and other sports.
Teams from Sibi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, and Harnai are participating in the event. Deputy Commissioner Sibi, Major (R) Ilyas Kabezai, Wing Commander Colonel Shaharyar, Colonel Zubair Ahmed, and Colonel Abdul Mannan were received with a grand welcome, including a band salute and flower showers by the athletes. A traditional introduction of the guests to the players followed.
The festival was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner with a kick-off of the football match. Program focal person Abdul Samad Bangalzai stated that the event was made possible with the special interest of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Sports Minister Meena Majid Baloch, Secretary Sports Dura Baloch, DG Sports Yasir Khan Bazai, and the Sibi district administration.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Ilyas Kabezai highlighted that sports play a crucial role in the physical growth, health, and mental strength of youth. He added that the festival provides a prime opportunity for young talent to shine, promoting social cohesion, discipline, and teamwork. Such events will continue to be organized regularly in the Sibi Division.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner, along with Wing Commanders, inaugurated the Shooting Ball Tournament at Jirga Hall, Sibi. Organizer Mir Shehbaz Khan Barozai presented traditional Balochi and Pashto turbans and Ajrak caps to the guests. The sports festival will continue with competitions across all disciplines until November 30.
