Quetta, Nawa Killi: In a major crackdown on counterfeit medicine production, the Drug Task Force and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a joint operation in Nawa Killi, Quetta, arresting six individuals, including factory owner Muhammad Tahir. The arrested staff members include Nazir, Abdullah, Muhammad Yousuf, Muhammad Javed, and Aziz-ur-Rehman.
Authorities discovered a fully operational illegal medicine packing facility inside a residential building in Mughalabad Shakir Colony. The factory was engaged in producing unregistered, fake, and illegal drugs, reportedly supplying them within Pakistan and to neighboring countries.
The raid, led by Drug Inspector Ali Ahmed Achakzai in coordination with FIA officials, resulted in the seizure of capsules, strips, raw materials, and other counterfeit medicines worth several million rupees. The premises have been sealed, and all confiscated samples have been sent to the Drug Testing Laboratory. Legal action under the Drug Act will follow upon receipt of the lab report.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects supplied fake medicines to major medical stores in Quetta. Authorities have vowed to extend the crackdown to the distribution network to curb the circulation of counterfeit drugs.
Public health experts have warned that counterfeit medicines can pose severe health risks, as they may contain dangerous or ineffective ingredients. Authorities have urged the public to avoid purchasing medicines from unauthorized sources and to report any suspicious vendors.
This operation represents one of the most significant efforts in Balochistan against illegal drug manufacturing, reinforcing the government’s commitment to public health and safety.
