Islamabad, February 12, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved an amendment introducing a Special Additional AG Allowance for senior law officers who have completed over ten years of service as Assistant Attorneys General. The approval was granted on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following a summary submitted for consideration.
The amendment revises the terms and conditions of service for Additional, Deputy and Assistant Attorneys General. Under the new provision, Additional Attorneys General who previously served more than a decade as Assistant Attorneys General will receive structured financial recognition for their sustained contribution within the law officers’ cadre.
The move aims to acknowledge long-standing professional service and strengthen institutional stability in the legal framework representing the federal government. According to official sources, the amendment will take effect in accordance with the approved summary, reinforcing merit-based progression and financial incentives within the Attorney General’s office.
