Islamabad, March 9: The 12th Passing Out Parade of the Motorway Police Training College was held with grandeur, with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by IG Motorway Police Sultan Ahmed Choudhary, Additional IG Said Akhtar Bharwana, and Commandant Asim Gulzar.
A total of 401 officers, including 67 female officers, successfully graduated. The Federal Minister inspected the parade and saluted the disciplined contingents, while awards were distributed for outstanding performance among motorway officers. Junior Patrol Officer Nida Rukh Fatima received the All-Round First Award, Amarah Akbar was awarded Best in Academics, and Zain Ijaz won Best in Parade and Best in Driving Awards.
Speaking at the event, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that highway safety remains the Motorway Police’s top priority. He highlighted the establishment of Rescue 1122 centers and air ambulance services on motorways, along with toll plaza digitalization that has resulted in 90% of vehicles using M-Tag.
The minister noted completed projects including Islamabad, Murree, and Karachi-Liyari Expressways, while work continues on Karachi-Hyderabad, Quetta-Chaman, and other key motorways. Upcoming projects include connecting Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway to Karachi Port within two years, linking Lahore-Sialkot Motorway via Kharian to Islamabad, and developing the Mansehra-Kaghan-Naran Motorway to Babusar Top to promote tourism. The Baba Guru Nanak Expressway will also soon commence construction to facilitate Sikh pilgrimages.
IG Motorway Police Sultan Ahmed Choudhary praised the force’s excellent performance despite limited resources, while Commandant Asim Gulzar emphasized the college’s focus on both professional training and personality development of officers.
