Lahore, June 2: Commercial Ambassador of the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Adeel Munawar, has said that Pakistan-China cooperation is entering a new phase focused on industrialization, technological advancement, renewable energy, and sustainable economic growth under CPEC 2.0.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said the first phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor successfully addressed key infrastructure and energy challenges, while the second phase offers unprecedented opportunities to unlock Pakistan’s economic potential through innovation-driven collaboration.

He noted that major transport networks, power projects, and developments in Gwadar have established a strong foundation for economic transformation. The next stage of cooperation, he added, is centered on Special Economic Zones, industrial relocation, agricultural modernization, information technology, renewable energy, and business-to-business partnerships.

Adeel Munawar emphasized that green development has emerged as a major pillar of CPEC 2.0. He said China’s achievements in renewable energy, electric mobility, and green manufacturing provide valuable opportunities for Pakistan’s transition toward a sustainable economy.

He highlighted Pakistan’s vast solar and wind energy potential, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan, stating that Chinese investment and technology can help develop large-scale renewable energy projects, strengthen transmission infrastructure, and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.

The PCJCCI Commercial Ambassador also pointed to growing cooperation in green transportation, including solar-powered electric bikes, electric vehicle assembly, battery manufacturing, and clean mobility solutions, describing them as important contributors to sustainable urban transport and climate goals.

He welcomed increasing Chinese interest in Pakistan’s agriculture, mining, healthcare, information technology, and manufacturing sectors, saying that Special Economic Zones and improved policy facilitation are enhancing the country’s attractiveness for industrial investment and technology transfer.

According to Adeel Munawar, industrial cooperation under CPEC 2.0 can significantly boost exports, create employment opportunities, and promote value-added manufacturing. He added that recent engagements between Chinese investors and provincial governments reflect growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic outlook, particularly in agriculture modernization, mineral processing, food security, and smart farming.

“CPEC 2.0 is no longer confined to roads and power plants; it is a comprehensive framework for economic diversification, innovation, and sustainable development,” he said, stressing the need to promote joint ventures, technology transfer, and private-sector-led growth.
