31 Pakistani Students Depart for China Under TEVTA Punjab’s Dual Diploma Programme to Boost Technical Education and China-Pakistan Academic Cooperation

Thirty-one students from Punjab, Pakistan, have departed for China under the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab’s Dual Diploma Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing technical education, skill development, and international academic collaboration under the China–Pakistan educational exchange framework.

According to a report by Gwadar Pro, the latest batch is part of a 70-student cohort selected for the Dual Diploma Programme jointly offered by Punjab TEVTA and the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SIIT), China.

Out of the departing students, 20 are pursuing a Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Software Technology at the Government College of Technology (GCT) PGA Lahore, while 11 are enrolled in Advanced Construction Technology at GCT Taxila.

The three-year international diploma programme follows a 2+1 model — two years of study in Pakistan followed by one academic year in China — offering specialization in Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Textile Technology, and Advanced Construction Technology.

The first batch of Pakistani students has recently returned after successfully completing their final academic year in China, demonstrating the programme’s success in promoting cross-border education, practical training, and industrial exposure.

In a statement, TEVTA Punjab said the initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to developing a technically skilled workforce aligned with global industry standards while deepening people-to-people and educational ties between Pakistan and China under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
