National Party leader and former Balochistan chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has expressed serious concern over the growing incidents of kidnapping for ransom in Kech district. He said the situation has become alarming, with children of traders and influential families increasingly being targeted.
Dr Abdul Malik stated that while kidnappings continue, the prevailing state approach is also hampering development in Balochistan. He pointed out that despite available funds, key roads such as the Turbat–Mand route have turned into a daily ordeal due to repeated attacks.
He added that contractors working on development schemes, including the Kolwah and Hoshab–Awaran road projects, are facing severe difficulties. Calling the conditions extremely challenging, he urged both the state and militant groups to review their strategies to safeguard development and public welfare.
