Independent Report
Karachi:
Karachi narrowly escaped a major terrorist attack following a timely and effective operation by security forces in the Baldia Raees Goth area, where a mini truck loaded with explosives was neutralized.
Sources said nearly 2,000 kilograms of explosive material were recovered from the mini truck. During a subsequent search operation, 60 drums containing locally manufactured explosives and five gas cylinders were also seized from a nearby compound.
A suicide bomber was arrested during the operation. According to sources, the arrested suspect is affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Bashir Zeb group. Intelligence reports suggest that the intended targets were busy commercial centers of the city.
The Bomb Disposal Squad safely defused the explosives, preventing large-scale casualties and damage. Security agencies have expanded the scope of investigations to determine the full network behind the planned attack.
Sources further confirmed that CTD Sindh will hold an emergency press conference today to brief the media on the incident and ongoing investigations.
