Lahore, January 13, 2025: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), through effective use of advanced technology and an integrated surveillance system, has successfully apprehended a fraudster involved in deceiving citizens under the pretext of distributing Umrah gifts. According to a spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the arrested suspect has been identified as Ghazanfar Abbas, who lured citizens by enticing them with Umrah souvenirs. Under this false pretense, the suspect managed to swindle cash and valuable jewelry from citizens before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving complaints, PSCA initiated a comprehensive investigation utilizing Safe City cameras and modern digital tracking systems. Continuous monitoring of the suspect’s movements enabled authorities to trace and arrest him from Millat Park, Lahore, successfully preventing further financial losses to the public.
The spokesperson stated that Safe City cameras, advanced monitoring mechanisms and data analytics played a pivotal role in identifying the suspect and ensuring his timely arrest. The operation was carried out through close coordination between Punjab Safe Cities Authority and the police, resulting in swift and effective action against the accused. The spokesperson further added that Punjab Safe Cities Authority is fully committed for safeguarding citizens from fraud, deception and criminal exploitation as it remains its top priority. With the help of modern surveillance technologies, the Authority continues to strengthen its efforts to launch crackdown against criminal elements to ensure public safety.
