Lahore, January 20, 2026:
On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has established a “Virtual Center for Educational Security” to ensure foolproof security of educational institutions across the province. The initiative aims to connect all public and private schools and colleges in Punjab to a centralized digital security platform for real-time monitoring and rapid response.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the registration of teachers and security staff into the Safe Cities Integrated System is underway in phases. Under the new system, teachers will update the security status of their institutions three times daily through the Public Safety App. If any institution is marked unsafe, automatic alerts will be generated for concerned police and administrative authorities to ensure immediate action.
The spokesperson added that teachers can also use the “Connect to Camera” feature, allowing a mobile phone camera to function temporarily as a Safe Cities camera during emergencies, enabling live video sharing and swift assistance. So far, more than 30,000 educational institutions and over 130,000 teachers have been registered. PSCA stated that security cameras installed at institutions will also be integrated into its live monitoring system, reinforcing student and staff safety across Punjab.
