QUETTA: Acting Governor Balochistan, Ghazala Gola, has underscored the critical importance of highways in driving regional development and improving the livelihoods of local communities. She called for the rapid progress of the World Bank–funded road sub-project connecting Dera Allah Yar to Hair Din Sohbatpur, highlighting that its timely completion would bring far-reaching benefits to the entire region.
The acting governor made these remarks during a briefing at Governor House Quetta with Deputy Director of the World Bank project, Aslam Zehri. She reaffirmed her dedication to development-focused initiatives and public welfare, emphasizing that enhanced road infrastructure would strengthen connectivity and support economic growth for the surrounding communities.
The briefing was attended by World Bank officials, including Wasim Ahmed Babai and Saad Zahid, who discussed project timelines, challenges, and progress updates.
The 38-kilometer Dera Allah Yar–Hair Din Sohbatpur road suffered extensive damage during the catastrophic floods of 2022. It has since been incorporated into the IFRAP Phase-I program, which aims to rehabilitate and upgrade the road with flood-resilient features, ensuring protection against future natural disasters and promoting sustainable development in the area.
