Independent Report
Islamabad: Pakistan’s national hockey team has raised serious concerns over alleged mismanagement during its recent tour of Australia, claiming players were left without proper support both abroad and upon their return home. Team captain Imad Butt revealed that no officials from the Pakistan Hockey Federation were present at the airport to receive the squad after they landed in Pakistan. He further stated that no transportation arrangements were made to drop players to their homes.
Butt alleged that during the Australia tour, players had to arrange their own accommodation and meals. According to him, team members were compelled to cook their own food and even clean kitchens, utensils, bathrooms, and living spaces. He described the situation as humiliating and damaging to the dignity of national athletes and the reputation of Pakistan’s national sport.
The captain has demanded a transparent inquiry into the matter to ensure such incidents are not repeated in the future.
