Peshawar, 25 February 2026: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, addressed the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme distribution ceremony at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar as chief guest.
He stated that the laptop scheme is not merely the distribution of devices but a strategic investment in youth, providing access to global online courses, international research libraries, and modern technical skills. He emphasized that nations succeed not only by population size but through intellectual capacity, creative thinking, and technical expertise.
Engineer Muqam highlighted government initiatives in emerging technologies, including the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence (2017), National Centre for Cyber Security, and National Centre for Big Data and Cloud Computing, linking universities to national innovation networks and industrial research. He also announced mandatory 10,000 internships under PSDP projects with a stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month for one year to provide practical experience to young engineers.
The ceremony included students from UET Peshawar, UET Bannu, UET Nowshera, and UET Abbottabad, reflecting efforts to provide equal educational opportunities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He urged students to adopt integrity, hard work, and innovation to serve the nation and contribute to Pakistan’s technological and economic progress.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Sadiq Khattak welcomed the Federal Minister, appreciating his contributions to the engineering community and pledging full support for the university’s development.
