Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) adjourned the hearing of an appeal and a miscellaneous petition related to former Prime Minister Imran Khan after the government requested additional time.
Senior lawyer Latif Khosa told the media that the case, referred earlier by the Supreme Court, was scheduled for hearing before a division bench. However, the government stated that the counsel representing the Election Commission had recently been appointed Advocate General Punjab, requiring a new lawyer to be engaged for the case.
The court also considered a miscellaneous application concerning Imran Khan’s health. Medical reports, including one indicating a possible retina issue in his right eye, were presented. Khosa requested that Imran Khan be examined by a retina specialist and shifted to Shifa International Hospital for proper treatment, with his personal physicians, Dr. Kamran Faisal and Dr. Asim Yousaf, allowed to participate.
Khosa highlighted concerns over restricted meetings with Imran Khan, stressing that jail rules entitle prisoners to meet family, lawyers, and doctors. He urged the court to prevent further delays and ensure the former premier receives proper medical care and legal rights.
He added that Imran Khan, who founded his political movement three decades ago in the name of justice, continues to seek justice through the courts.
