ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has invited Chinese companies to invest in modern slaughterhouses and meat processing facilities as part of its strategy to expand halal meat exports to China and other international markets.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with a visiting Chinese delegation, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan’s large livestock population, strategic location and growing halal meat production capacity make it an ideal partner to meet China’s rising demand for imported meat.

The minister encouraged Chinese investors to establish state-of-the-art slaughterhouses and meat processing plants equipped with advanced technology, international hygiene standards, cold-chain logistics and traceability systems to strengthen export competitiveness.

He said the livestock sector remains a key driver of Pakistan’s agricultural economy, contributing to rural employment, value addition and economic growth. Investment in modern meat processing, he added, would enhance exports, improve food safety, create employment opportunities and increase farmers’ incomes.

The visiting Chinese delegation expressed interest in cooperation on meat processing, technology transfer, quality assurance and export-oriented infrastructure. Both sides agreed to deepen technical collaboration, strengthen business-to-business partnerships and meet regulatory and sanitary standards required for expanding Pakistan’s halal meat exports.
