Zong Launches 5G-Ready Infrastructure and Customer Facilitation Desk at Islamabad International Airport

ISLAMABAD: Zong has launched its exclusive 5G-ready Indoor Building Solution (IBS) and Customer Facilitation Desk at Islamabad International Airport, becoming the only telecom operator providing next-generation indoor connectivity at the country’s busiest aviation hub. The initiative aims to deliver seamless high-speed mobile coverage, instant SIM activation, data services, and on-site customer support, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital transformation and smart aviation journey.

 

 

 

Senior officials from Zong, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), and Huawei attended the inauguration ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to expanding 5G-ready infrastructure and accelerating digital innovation in the aviation sector. Zong Chief Technical Officer Mao Weiliang said advanced connectivity has become the backbone of intelligent travel, digital services, and economic growth, adding that the project reflects the strong technology partnership between Pakistan and China while preparing the country for the next generation of smart airports.

 

 

 

Executive Director Sales & Distribution Faheem Durrani said the new Customer Facilitation Desk would enhance passenger convenience by providing instant telecom services and strengthening Zong’s customer experience strategy. Islamabad International Airport Manager Aftab Gillani described the initiative as an important step toward building a smarter, digitally enabled airport. Zong said the project is part of its long-term strategy to expand AI-enabled services, trusted 5G connectivity, and innovative digital solutions across Pakistan’s major transport hubs, supporting the Digital Pakistan vision
