QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to enhance the financial assistance package for the families of police martyrs by proposing an increase in compensation and cash payments in lieu of residential plots or land. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has sought a summary for formal approval.
According to Balochistan Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind, the proposed revision recommends increasing compensation for the families of police martyrs in BPS-1 to BPS-16, including constables, head constables, assistant sub-inspectors, sub-inspectors and inspectors, from Rs100 million to Rs125 million (from Rs1 crore to Rs1.25 crore). The proposal also recommends raising the cash payment in lieu of plots or land for BPS-1 to BPS-8 personnel from Rs1.1 million to Rs2.5 million.
Shahid Rind said Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti believes that police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism are national heroes, and ensuring the welfare and financial security of their families remains one of the government’s highest priorities.
