LORALAI:
Commissioner Loralai Division Wali Muhammad Bareech on Friday reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to improving the quality of education, warning that negligence in teaching responsibilities, absenteeism and poor professional performance by teachers would not be tolerated.
He made these remarks while chairing a divisional review meeting to assess the performance of the Education Department and evaluate progress in the education sector across Loralai Division.
The meeting was attended by District Education Officers from Loralai, Dukki and Musakhel, District Education Officer (Female) Fauzia Durrani, representatives of UNICEF and other education officials.
Participants reviewed key indicators of educational performance, including enrolment campaigns, teachers’ attendance, students’ academic progress, the availability of basic facilities in schools and the major challenges confronting the education sector. The meeting also considered proposals aimed at improving learning outcomes, reducing student dropout rates and strengthening school infrastructure.
Addressing the participants, Commissioner Bareech directed education authorities to further strengthen monitoring through regular field inspections and continuous supervision of government schools. He instructed officials to address shortages of teachers and essential facilities on a priority basis to ensure uninterrupted educational activities.
Emphasizing the importance of increasing school enrolment, he called for a more effective campaign to bring out-of-school children back into classrooms, with particular focus on encouraging girls’ education to improve literacy across the division.
The commissioner also directed officials to ensure teachers’ regular attendance in all educational institutions, warning that disciplinary action, including salary deductions in accordance with the relevant rules, would be taken against those found absent without justification. At the same time, he stressed that dedicated and high-performing teachers should be acknowledged and encouraged for their services.
Bareech said the quality of education could be further enhanced through the adoption of modern teaching methods, continuous professional training for teachers, greater use of digital learning tools, regular student assessments, transparent examination systems and increased parental involvement.
He also emphasized the need for closer coordination among the Education Department, district administration, UNICEF and other partner organizations to achieve the shared objective of providing quality education to every child across Loralai Division.
