Secretary Communications and Works (C&W) Babar Khan on Friday reiterated that the timely completion of development projects was both a departmental responsibility and a public right, warning that delays, negligence or any compromise on the quality of strategic infrastructure schemes would not be tolerated.
He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting on the progress of key development projects underway across Balochistan. The meeting was attended via video link by chief engineers, superintending engineers and executive engineers representing all six zones of the province.
During the session, engineers presented updates on the status of ongoing schemes in their respective districts and highlighted financial, administrative and technical challenges affecting project implementation.
Addressing the participants, Babar Khan directed all engineers to expedite work on priority projects, stating that growing development needs and limited timelines required greater efficiency and strict adherence to approved schedules. He instructed the department to resolve technical issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted execution of development schemes.
The secretary warned executive engineers responsible for building projects that unnecessary delays would not be accepted, adding that disciplinary action would be taken against officials who failed to complete projects within the stipulated timeframe.
He also stressed that maintaining high construction standards was non-negotiable and directed all field officers to ensure strict quality control throughout the implementation process.
Babar Khan further instructed chief engineers and superintending engineers to conduct regular site inspections and submit comprehensive progress reports every two weeks. He said the reports should also identify technical issues requiring immediate attention to facilitate timely decision-making and ensure the smooth execution of development projects across the province.
