MUZAFFARABAD, July 17: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has categorically rejected a fake notification circulating on social media claiming that the upcoming general elections have been postponed, describing the document as fabricated and misleading.

In an official statement, the Election Commission’s spokesperson said the forged letterhead being shared online has no connection with either the Election Commission of Pakistan or the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson urged political parties, election candidates, media organizations and the public to disregard such false information and rely only on official announcements issued by the Election Commission and the Department of Information.

The Commission reaffirmed that the general elections will be held as scheduled in accordance with the notified election timetable. It emphasized that any future changes to the election programme, if required, would be announced solely through an official notification issued by the competent authority.

The Election Commission also appealed to the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely exclusively on authentic sources to help prevent the spread of misinformation.
