Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan Mohammad Tahir has emphasized that the adoption of modern policing practices is essential for providing faster relief to the public, saying that strengthening the police’s professional image is key to enhancing public confidence and ensuring a greater sense of security.
He expressed these views while addressing an introductory session at the Central Police Office for newly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) selected through the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC).
The IGP said supervisory officers play a pivotal role in improving the performance of subordinate personnel, adding that effective leadership, proper supervision and a strong command structure are vital for ensuring timely justice and efficient resolution of public complaints.
He advised the newly appointed officers to embrace the principles of smart and community policing, make optimal use of available resources and work proactively to improve public service delivery, prevent crime and strengthen trust between the police and the community.
Mohammad Tahir said prompt, professional and impartial policing remained the foundation of an effective law enforcement system and was indispensable for maintaining law and order across the province.
The newly recruited DSPs reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, upholding the rule of law and performing their duties with integrity, professionalism and dedication.
DIG Headquarters Hassan Asad Alvi, DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat and other senior police officers also attended the introductory session.
