QUETTA, July 18: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Friday welcomed the successful negotiations between the Balochistan government and the Ziarat sit-in committee, describing the agreement as a major breakthrough for peace, political stability and public confidence in the province.
The Governor said the outcome of the talks reflected the importance of political dialogue, mutual understanding and consensus-building in resolving complex issues, emphasizing that negotiation remains a more effective and credible approach than confrontation. He expressed optimism that all agreed measures would be implemented in letter and spirit, paving the way for sustainable peace and greater social harmony across Balochistan.
Mandokhail also welcomed the government’s decision to address the legitimate demands of the families of the Ziarat tragedy victims and voiced confidence that the judicial commission would conduct a transparent, impartial and credible investigation into the incident. He said the victims would be officially recognized as martyrs, with their families receiving financial compensation, educational support for their children and all other benefits provided under government policy.
He further noted that selected public buildings would be named in honour of the martyrs, while a committee headed by the Provincial Minister for Revenue would be established to address public concerns related to revenue matters as part of the negotiated agreement.
Paying tribute to the government negotiating team, political leaders and particularly the bereaved families of the martyrs, the Governor praised their patience, wisdom and commitment to peace. He said the successful dialogue had strengthened democratic values, reinforced public trust and demonstrated that consultation and consensus remain the most effective path to resolving differences and ensuring lasting stability in Balochistan.
