ANF Arrests Six Suspects, Seizes Nearly 29kg of Narcotics in Nationwide Crackdown

ISLAMABAD, July 18: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out eight intelligence-based operations across Pakistan, arresting six suspects, including a woman, and recovering 28.988 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs5.3 million, the ANF spokesperson said on Friday.

According to the spokesperson, at Sialkot International Airport, officials recovered 940 grams of crystal meth (ice) from the luggage of a passenger bound for Jeddah and arrested the suspect. At the Cargo Shed of Islamabad International Airport, 995 grams of ice concealed in a paper sheet were seized from a parcel destined for Dubai. In another operation at Islamabad International Airport, one kilogram of Xanax tablets was recovered from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Riyadh.

 

In a separate airport operation, authorities recovered 125 heroin-filled capsules weighing 753 grams from the bodies of a man and a woman travelling to Jeddah, leading to their arrest.

 

During domestic operations, ANF seized 12 kilograms of hashish from a suspect near Estate Avenue Road in Karachi, 1.2 kilograms of hashish from a suspect near GT Road in Peshawar, and 10 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) hidden in bushes near Sami in District Kech. In another raid at a courier office on Ring Road, Peshawar, officials recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish and 900 grams of opium concealed inside two perfume boxes.

 

The ANF said separate cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and investigations are underway to trace the networks involved in the smuggling attempts. The force reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations against drug traffickers and disrupting both domestic and international narcotics supply chains.
