Peshawar: Feb 25. Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Reviews Health Department Performance
A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, was held to review the performance of the Health Department. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall functioning of the department, including the status of hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The briefing was attended by the Secretary Health and other senior officials of the department.
The meeting was apprised of the current status of the Sehat Card program and other related matters. Furthermore, officials briefed the Chief Secretary on the challenges faced by MTI hospitals. It was also informed that the assessment of District Health Officers’ (DHOs) performance has commenced under specific targets.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emphasized that the Health Department should work under a well-coordinated strategy for reforms. He directed special attention toward improving healthcare facilities in remote areas and ensuring effective polio eradication efforts. The Chief Secretary further stated that enhancing healthcare facilities at the local level would help reduce the burden on urban hospitals. Reviewing the developmental targets, he instructed the timely completion of priority projects.
