Islamabad Food Authority Cracks Down on Expired Food Items
Islamabad Apr. 30. The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has launched a crackdown on food establishments selling expired food items in the capital city. Led by Deputy Director Dr. Tahira Siddiq, the food safety teams conducted operations in various areas, including I-8, F-10, G-7, Ghouri Town, Lehterar Road, Bani Gala, and Tarnol.
Key Highlights:
– 81 Food Points Inspected: 15 food points were shut down for selling expired items, while 6 others were fined heavily for poor sanitation.
– Over 2 Tons of Expired Items Seized: The expired items were destroyed, and action was taken against the establishments for non-compliance with food safety SOPs.
– Strict Action: The IFA has imposed a strict ban on the sale of expired items, and establishments found guilty will face severe penalties.
According to Dr. Tahira Siddiq, the IFA is committed to ensuring food safety and taking action against those who compromise public health.
