Protest Held by SUP in TandoAdam Against Corporate Farming, Illegal Canals on Indus River, and Moro Incident
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Sindh United Party (SUP), District Sanghar, staged a protest demonstration in front of the Tando Adam Press Club against corporate farming, the construction of illegal canals on the Indus River, and the tragic Moro incident. The protest was led by Commrade Muhammad Khan Panhwar, with participants holding party flags and placards inscribed with slogans such as “No to Land Grabbing on the Indus” and “Reject Corporate Farming.”
Addressing the protest, Commrade Muhammad Khan Panhwar, Raja Malokhani, Sikandar Malokhani, Shafi Muhammad Saand, Muhammad Ikhlaq Waryah (Secretary, Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Tando Adam), Gul Hassan Lakho, Sagar Dehraj, and others strongly condemned the government’s persistent efforts to build canals on the Indus River. They alleged that through corporate farming, millions of acres of Sindh’s agricultural land were being handed over to outsiders, displacing indigenous communities and pushing locals into alienation on their own land.
The speakers denounced the Moro incident, terming it a grave injustice, where unarmed youth protesting peacefully against land occupation were brutally shot and martyred. They further condemned the inhumane treatment of Irfan Laghari, one of the victims, stating that his body was not handed over to his family and was instead buried under tight police security without consent, treating him as an unidentified body.
Prominent figures including Pir Ghulam Haider and Mansoor Bajoro were also present on the occasion.
