Secretary Price Control and Commodities Management Department Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta said that restoration of historic buildings in its original position is the top priority of the Govt of the Punjab. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and Chief Secretary Zahid Zaman are very keen to maintain the beauty of historical buildings. He was addressing the officers while visiting the Shadilal building here yesterday. Project Director Integrated Work Readiness Project of Punjab Zohaib Mushtaq, Consultant Malik Maqsood and ex-Directors Archaeology Muhammad Hassan, SDO and officials of C&W were also present at this occasion.
Dr. Ehsan Bhutta said that the Govt. of the Punjab has allocated necessary funds for their restoration and we shall do every measure in this regard. He said that Alhamdullilah another initiative also completed. Now Govt. College of Technology Lytton Road ( Sir Shadi Lal building) restoration is in progress. Two galleries ( Ilm Din Shaheed Gallery and Sir Shadi Lal gallery) established in the restored building.
Sir Shadi Lal was first Chief Justice of LHC ( 1920-1934) belonging to this origin(sub continent). The building was built in 1909.
He informed that most importantly in this building the appeal of Ilm Din Shaheed( Ghazi) was heard by the session judge in 1929
where Muhammad Ali Jinnah also appeared. Ilm Din Shaheed was kept in Hawalaat in this building as well.
For highlighting importance, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta informed that we took the initiative of not only restoring the 1909 built building but also for information and knowledge of Students, history lovers, jurists and Tourists.
