Islamabad, October 27, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the illegal entry of Indian forces into Srinagar on 27 October 1947 marked one of the darkest chapters in modern history, setting in motion decades of oppression against the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In his message on Kashmir Black Day 2025, the President said that generations of innocent Kashmiris have endured immense suffering under Indian occupation, facing violence, repression, and denial of their fundamental rights.
He said that every year, Pakistan observes Kashmir Black Day to honour the heroic struggle and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people who continue to resist tyranny in their pursuit of the right to self-determination. Despite decades of Indian brutality, he added, the spirit of resistance among Kashmiris remains unbroken.
President Zardari condemned India’s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019, including the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, the imposition of military siege, collective punishments, and enforcement of draconian laws that deprive Kashmiris of basic freedoms. He said the occupied territory remains under severe restrictions, while fake encounters, custodial torture, extrajudicial killings, and enforced disappearances continue to terrorize civilians.
He warned that India’s efforts to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK were aimed at turning the Kashmiri population into a minority in their own homeland.
Emphasizing that durable peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the President urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and global human rights organizations, to hold India accountable for its grave and systematic human rights violations.
He said the United Nations owes it to the people of Kashmir to ensure the implementation of its own resolutions and to facilitate a peaceful, fair, and lasting settlement of the dispute.
President Zardari reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue its unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support to the people of IIOJK until they achieve their legitimate right to self-determination, adding that the entire Pakistani nation stands united with the Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for justice, peace, and freedom.
