Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, hailed the passage of the Child Marriage Prohibition Bill by the Balochistan Assembly as a “historic and revolutionary reform”.
She said child marriage violates fundamental rights of girls, affecting their health, education and future. The new legislation, she added, is a guarantee for a safe, empowered and progressive future for the young girls of Balochistan.
She praised the leadership of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and acknowledged the efforts of lawmakers, civil society, women’s rights activists and institutions that supported the bill. She said the law will enable girls to fully benefit from education, sports and social opportunities.
