, November 26, 2025 – Justice (R) Yar Muhammad was sworn in as the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan today, with Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administering the oath. The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Cifran, Engineer Amir Muqam, as well as other dignitaries, including former Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan and Chief Secretary Abbrar Ahmad Mirza.
Justice (R) Yar Muhammad, a native of Astore district, has a distinguished judicial career, having served as a civil judge, district and sessions judge, Registrar of the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court, and Judge of the Chief Court. He will lead the interim administration until the upcoming assembly elections, which will be held under the Federal Election Act 2017 ¹ ² ³.
