QUETTA — Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman and head of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has said the Constitution has been reduced to a mere formality in the country and warned that nations cannot function without agreed rules, just as even a village cannot operate without a collective code.
Addressing a massive public gathering at Ayub Stadium in connection with the 52nd death anniversary of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, he accused the government of forming a “fake parliament” by disqualifying opposition members through court decisions and handing seats to the ruling coalition. He alleged that PTI was subjected to systematic state repression, homes were raided, workers tortured, and basic dignity violated, yet the public still gave the party a mandate which was overturned through manipulated results.
Achakzai also criticised the judiciary, saying courts had failed to deliver justice and that the people must now distinguish between “truth and falsehood” in both parliament and courts. He warned that any attempt to impose governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be met with a “people’s rule on the streets.”
Speaking on security, he said the Pashtun and Baloch belt was deliberately destabilized due to its rich resources and alleged that aerial bombings in Tirah and Waziristan were killing civilians before authorities returned to “talks and negotiations.”
He added that uniforms should represent protection in a rule-of-law state, but in Pakistan they have become a symbol of fear. Achakzai demanded that authority and resources be returned to nationalities — Pashtun, Baloch, Sindhi, Punjabi and Seraiki — accusing elites of monopolising wealth while ordinary people were even deprived of basic livelihood and business freedoms.
Leaders of PMAP, Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan, BNP and PTI also addressed the rally. A resolution was moved by PMAP provincial senior vice president and Quetta district secretary Syed Sharaaf Agha
