ANF Seizes Over 1.1 Tonnes of Narcotics in Nationwide Operations

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 — The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out four targeted operations across the country, arresting two suspects and recovering more than 1,152.8 kilograms of narcotics valued at over PKR 214.3 million, officials said on Friday.

According to an ANF spokesperson, a major effort was launched around educational institutions to curb drug peddling among students. In Gilgit’s Shaheen Link Road area, officers recovered 288 grams of hashish from an individual who later confessed to supplying drugs to students.

In an international interdiction case, ANF Lahore intercepted a parcel in Allama Iqbal Town containing 120 grams of heroin concealed inside children’s toys, bound for Australia.

Two domestic operations also yielded substantial seizures. Near a hotel on the Indus Highway in Jamshoro, 2.4 kilograms of hashish was recovered from a motorcyclist. In the largest haul, a raid on a house in Tehsil Taftan, District Bagi, led to the recovery of 1,100 kilograms of opium and 50 kilograms of heroin.

Cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA) 1997, and further investigations are underway.
