KP Food Authority Seizes 2,300kg of Banned Salt, Unsafe Meat in Peshawar, Nowshera

Peshawar, December 31, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) conducted major enforcement operations in Peshawar and Nowshera, recovering 2,300 kilograms of banned China salt and hazardous meat, while initiating strict legal action against those endangering public health.
According to a KPFS&HFA spokesperson, acting on a tip-off, the Peshawar team raided a warehouse on Ashraf Road, seizing 800 kilograms of prohibited China salt. The stock was taken into official custody, fines imposed on the owners, and legal proceedings initiated.
In a separate operation in Pabbi Bazaar, Nowshera, food safety authorities recovered nearly 1,500 kilograms of stale, contaminated meat and chicken parts. The items were immediately disposed of following hygiene protocols, the premises were sealed, and FIRs were registered against the shop owners.
Director General KPFS&HFA, Wasif Saeed, praised the enforcement teams and warned those compromising human health that strict, indiscriminate action would be taken. He emphasized that no compromise would be made on public health and vowed to intensify inspection drives and enforcement activities province-wide to ensure the provision of safe, hygienic, and quality food to the public.
