Gilgit, 12 January 2026: The Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved the continuation of the Health Facility Program for the fiscal year 2027, covering Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). This extension reinforces the federal government’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage.
Under this program, eligible families will continue to receive free treatment at designated public and private hospitals, ensuring especially that residents of Gilgit-Baltistan can access specialized care despite geographical challenges and limited medical infrastructure. The initiative also aims to ease financial pressure on provincial health endowment funds, while parallel operations of the Health Facility Program will guarantee uninterrupted healthcare services for the public.
