Balochistan Braces for Intense Cold Wave with Snow and Strong Winds

QUETTA: The Regional Meteorological Center Balochistan has issued a warning of a severe cold wave, accompanied by strong winds, set to affect the province’s southwestern districts on Wednesday and Thursday.
Districts likely to experience intermittent rain and gusty thunderstorms include Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Killa Saifullah, Loralai, Zhob, Harnai, Kharan, Chagi, Surab, Washuk, Musakhel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, and Noshki.
Light to moderate snowfall is forecasted for Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Hurmzai, Khanozai, Killa Saifullah, Kan Mehterzai, Muslim Bagh, Killa Abdullah, Golistan, and Kalat during evening and nighttime hours, accompanied by strong winds.
Meanwhile, light rain and thunderstorms are also expected in coastal and southern districts including Gwadar (Jiwani, Pasni, Gwadar), Panjgur, Kech (Turbat), Sibi, Naseerabad, Awaran, Kachhi, and Dera Bugti.
Over the past 24 hours, most districts recorded dry and cold conditions, with northern and northwestern areas experiencing extremely low night and early morning temperatures. Ziarat reported the province’s lowest temperature at -4.8°C.
