A public jirga organized by the Khyber Political Alliance at Lundi Kotal Railway Station Ground brought together political and social leaders, tribal elders, local representatives, and community members to discuss pressing local issues.
Speakers raised concerns over the prolonged closure of the Torkham border, which has severely affected livelihoods, increased poverty, and exacerbated social challenges. The deteriorating condition of the district headquarter hospital was highlighted, with basic healthcare facilities lacking and minor patients often referred to Peshawar.
Education deficiencies were also discussed, including a shortage of teachers and inadequate facilities, forcing students to sit on floor mats. The jirga warned that delays in addressing these issues could push youth toward negative activities. Access to clean drinking water remains limited, forcing women to carry water from long distances.
